20xx年节水灌溉可行性研究报告(编辑修改稿)内容摘要:

I was grateful. I needed hi s help because I had very l ittle education. I began school at six. The school where I studied for onl y two years was three ki lometers away. I had to leave because my fami ly coul d not continue to pay the school fees and the bus fare. I could not read or write wel . After tryi ng hard, I got a job i n a gol d mi ne. However, this was a ti me when one had to got to have a pasbook to live in Johannesburg. Sadl y I di d not have i t because I was not born there, and I worried about whether I would bee out of work. The day when N el son Mandela helped m e was one of my happi est. He tol d m e how to get the corect papers so I coul d stay in Johannesburg. I becam e more hopeful about my future. I never fot how ki nd Mandel a was. When he ani zed the AN C Youth League, I joined i t as soon as I coul d. He sai d: “ The l ast thi rty years have seen the greatest number of l aws stoppi ng our ri ghts and progress, unti l today we have reached a stage where we have alm ost no rights at al .” It was the truth. Bl ack peopl e could not vote or choose thei r l eaders. They could not get the jobs they wanted. The parts of town in which they had to li ve were deci ded by whi te people. The pl aces outside the towns where they were sent to live were the poorest parts of South Afri ca. No one could grow food there,. In fact as N el son Mandel a said: “… We were put i nto a posi tion i n whi ch we had either to accept we were less i mportant, or fight the government. We chose to attack the laws. We first broke the l aw i n a way which was peaceful。 when this was not al owed… only then did we decide to answer violence wi th vi ol ence. ” As a matter of fact, I do not l ike vi ol ence… but i n 1963 I helped hi m blow up some governm ent buil di ngs. It was very dangerous because if I was caught I coul d be put i n prison. But I was very hapy to help because I knew it would hel p us achi eve our dream of m aki ng bl ack and white peopl e equal. The rest of El ias’ story You cannot i magine how the name of Robben Island made us afraid. It was a pri son from whi ch no one escaped. There I spent the hardest time of my li fe. But when I got there Nel son Mandela was also there and he helped me. Mr Mandela began a school for those of us who had l ittle learni ng. We read books under our blankets and used anythi ng we coul d find to make candl es to see the words. I becam e a good student. I wanted to study for degree but I was not al lowed to do that. Later, Mr Mandela al lowed the pri son guards to joi n us. He sai d they should not be stopped from studyi ng for their degrees. They were not cleverer than me, but they di d pass their exam s. So I knew I could get a degre too. That made me feel good about m ysel f. When I fini shed the four years in prison, I went to find a job. Si nce I was beter educated, I got a job worki ng in an offi ce. However, the pol ice found out and tol d my bos that I had been i n prison for blowing up government bui ldi ngs. So I l ost my job. I di d not work again for twenty years until Mr Mandel a and the AN C came to power in 1994. Al that tim e my wife and children had to beg for food and hel p from rel ati ves or friends. Lucki ly Mr Mandel a remembered m e and gave m e a job taking tourists around my old pri son on Robben Island. I fel t bad the fi rst ti me I tal ked to a group. Al l the teror and fear of that ti me cam e back to m e. I rem embered the beatings and the cruel ty of the guards and my fri ends who had died. I felt I would not be abl e to do it, but my fam ily encouraged me. They sai d that the job and the pay from the new South Africa government were my reward after worki ng al my li fe for equal ri ghts for the Blacks. So now at 51 I am proud to show vi sitors over the pri son, for I helped to make our people free in thei r own l and. A fol lower of Bi l Gates I have been a fri end of Bi l Gates for a long tim e. I knew hi m when he was a student at Harvard University. We were surpri sed when he left Uni versity to set up his own pany” Mi crosoft” and make hi s own software. But he was the cl ever one! H e is very god at writi ng puter languages and almost al l puters now use Microsoft software. The program “Word” is used from Britain to China! Of course he has m ade a l ot of money and that m akes people very jeal ous. They want to stop his succes. Even the government is agai nst him and has tried to break his pany into two parts. They say that he i s unfai r to other people who want to sel si mil ar software. Because hefi ts his new software free in every new puter, the governm ent says he is stopping other pani es from sel ing thei r programs. Thi s is not fai r. Everyone should be able to do what they can to make their pany bigger. Bi l Gates has not onl y done what he can to stop other peti tors. He is very ri ch, but he is generous. He has gi ven mi li ons of dol lars to help the educati on and the health of many chi ldren around the world. You coul d not meet a beter m an than Bil l Gates. A petitors of Bil l Gates Bi l Gates has been very successful and bee very ri ch. H e i s very generous but how has he got hi s money? H e has down thi s by m aki ng sure that no one el se wil l be abl e to pete wi th his software. H i s software is not the best but it i s used m ost widely in the world. When he sees what is needed, he m akes a program and produces it qui cker than anybody el se. That way he gets a l arge part of the software market. Then he works on i mprovi ng the software later. H e tries hard to stop others maki ng beter software. In 1995 the governm ent tri ed to m ake thi ngs fairer for people li ke me. The government wanted to make Mi crosoft into two pani es so that neither of them was so strong nor so ri ch. Thi s meant that they could not stop som ebody else m aki ng new software. I always wonder how he could get so rich so quickly. Has he don。
